MACC says the director and another man allegedly took the money to help a consultancy firm secure a project and approve its development plans.
Magistrate Sharifah Amierda Shasha Amir Shariffuddin issued the six-day remand order today at the Kemaman magistrates’ court, Bernama reported.
A source said the two suspects, in their 40s, were detained at about 3pm yesterday when they went to the Kemaman MACC office to give their statements.
Another person was detained yesterday in relation to the case but was later released on bail.
“The suspects are believed to have committed the offence between 2015 and 2020, accepting bribes in cash and through bank transfers to accounts belonging to the suspects and one of their siblings,” the source said.
Terengganu MACC chief Hazrul Shazreen Abd Yazid confirmed the arrests and said they seized a luxury car from one one of the suspects.
The vehicle is said to have been paid for by the firm involved in the case.
