Malaysia's new Cabinet features Mahathir's son

Malaysia's former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad has endorsed Prime Minister Najib Razak's new cabinet and praised his efforts to stamp out corruption.The outspoken former leader, who ruled Malaysia for 22 years, was a fierce critic of Mr Najib's predecessor, Abdullah Badawi.



Mr Mahathir's son Mukhriz has been made deputy trade minister in the new slimmed-down Cabinet, while Mr Abdullah's son-in-law has been left out.Mr Mahathir says he has faith his own son will perform well in his cabinet debut.The new cabinet will consist of 28 members, down from 32 previously.
