Darshan Singh Khaira who is a lawyer was at the High Chaparral on June 11, 2009. He shared some interesting views on the eviction case faced by the villagers at Kampung Buah Bala or known as High Chaparral. He has been involved in a lot of eviction of squatters and insisted that the Kampung Buah Pala matters are mostly political problems

HIGH CHAPARRAL DRAMA TO SPRM

The 300 villagers from High Chaparral has lodged a report on suspected frauds or land scams with the anti-corruption unit in Penang, Malaysia. These families are to be evicted by 11 June 2009 because Nusmetro, a developer has given them till this date to evict from this village. The village, Kampung Buah Pala earns the nickname High Chaparral because they used to rear 2,000 cows which supplied milk to the whole Penang Island.

CAREFUL ABOUT POLICEMAN ID

A REAL policeman ID card is light yellow in color with Logo & the word "polis diraja malaysia " in front. At the back, there will be a passport size photo, name & matriks number

Dear All , Another precaution and safety issues to take note. Please sent it to your friends and relatives and your loved ones for their safetyĆ¢€¦.!!!!

Below is the real policeman ID:

Ladies, be alert. It is happening in Penang !!!

I used to receive forwarded emails regarding incidents of being 'disturbed' by a fake policeman but I don't really believe that until i met one last saturday . It was 8.30am when I was driving at Jln Ayer Itam. I noticed a motorbike following me closely. Of course I didnt suspect anything bcos that is the main road to town. However, at the Mobil petrol station, b4 SRJK Shang Wu, I turned left to Tmn Lumba Kuda & he followed.

This time he was riding the motorbike on my right & took out his handcuff and kept saying "Saya polis". I ignored him. Then at the tmn lumba kuda housing area he overtook my car & stopped his motorbike infront on me. I stopped & waited till he got down from his bike then I drove off again. Unfortunately, we met again at the tuffclub traffic light. This time, he kept knocking at my window and asking me to co me out from my car. He also showed me a so called police ID card without photo or logo.

I'm very sure that he is not a genuine policeman. Even if he is a real one, and if I did break any traffic rules , he can just send me a summon without needing me to get down from my car. So, I decided go drive to police station. He followed me till a few hundreds metre b4 I turned to the police station. He is a medium size Malay guy, abt 165-170cm height.. Riding Modenas Kriss 100 , PGN 74. p/s: A REAL policeman ID card is light yellow in color with Logo & the word "polis diraja malaysia " in front. At the back, there will be a passport size photo, name & matriks number . Hope this thing wont happen again and wont happen to any of you as well.

BUKAN PEMIMPIN..AHLI PARTI PUN PERLU INGAT SEJARAH DAN PERJANJIAN 1948

Kabur sejarah: Pemimpin BN perlu latihan

Citizen journalist Chan Lilian got this video at the press conference of the Kampung Buah Pala Indian village known as High Chapparal because they used to rear cattles and supplied milk to the whole island. Gary Nair is the PRM's Vice President and he reminded the Pakatan Rakyat ADuns to fight for the villagers because a developer NusMetro has acquired the land for development. An elderly man claimed that Anwar sworn on his head (by placing his hands on his head) that he will never abandoned the villagers and preserve the village for them.

An amazing story...

WWII Tank Found after 62 Years.
Komatsu D375A-2 is ready to go.
Preparing to pull it out.

People from the nearby village come to watch.

Through the muddy bank of the lake

In mint condition.

Hosing off 62 years worth of "muck."

Incredibly, after a few minor repairs, they were able to start its diesel engine.

WW II Russian tank with German markings uncovered after 62 years. WW II Buffs will
find this interesting. Even after 62 years (and a little tinkering), they were able to
fire up the diesel engine!

A Komatsu D375A-2 bulldozer pulled the abandoned tank from its tomb under the
boggy bank of a lake near Johvi , Estonia . The Soviet-built T34/76A tank had been resting
at the bottom of the lake for 56 years. According to its specifications, it's a 27-ton
machine with a top speed of 53km/hr.

From February to September 1944, heavy battles were fought in the narrow,
50 km-wide, Narva front in the northeastern part of Estonia . Over 100,000 men
were killed and 300,000 men were wounded there. During battles in the summer of
1944, the tank was captured from the Soviet army and used by the German army.
(This is the reason that there are German markings painted on the tank's exterior.)
On 19th September, 1944, German troops began an organized retreat along the Narva
front. It is suspected that the tank was then purposefully driven into the lake to conceal
it when its captors left the area.

At that time, a local boy walking by the lake, Kurtna Matasjarv, noticed tank tracks
leading into the lake but not coming out anywhere. For two months he saw air bubbles
emerging from the lake. This gave him reason to believe that there must be an armored
vehicle at the lake's bottom. A few years ago, he told the story to the leader of the local
war history club 'Otsing'. Together with other club members, Mr. Igor Shedunov initiated
ping expeditions to the bottom of the lake about a year ago. At the depth of 7 metres
they discovered the tank resting under a 3 metre layer of peat.

Enthusiasts from the club, under Mr Shedunov's leadership, decided to pull the tank out.
In September of 2000 they turned to Mr. Aleksander Borovkovthe, manager of the Narva
open pit company AS Eesti Polevkivi, to rent the company's Komatsu D375A-2 bulldozer.
(Currently used at the pit, the Komatsu dozer was manufactured in 1995, and has
recorded 19,000 operating hours without major repairs.)

The pulling operation began at 09:00 and was concluded at 15:00, with several
technical breaks. The weight of the tank, combined with the travel incline, made for a
pulling operation that required significant muscle. The D375A-2 handled the operation
with power and style. The weight of the fully-armed tank was around 30 tons, so
the active force required to retrieve it was similar. A main requirement for the 68-ton
dozer was to have enough weight to prevent slippage while moving up the hill.
After the tank surfaced, it turned out to be a "trophy tank" that had been captured by
the German army in the course of the battle at Sinimaed (Blue Hills) about six weeks
before it was sunk in the lake. Altogether, 116 shells were found on board. Remarkably,
the tank was in good condition, with NO RUST, and alll systems (except the engine) in
working condition. This is a very rare machine, especially considering that it fought
both on the Russian and the German sides. Plans are underway to fully restore the
tank. It will be displayed at a war history museum in the Gorodenko village on the
left bank of the River Narv.

VICTORY IN CERTAIN

Victory is certain, says Malaysian opposition party They say voters deeply disillusionment with the ruling coalition

SHAH ALAM, MALAYSIA - Malaysia's Islamic opposition party told supporters Friday that the National Front's fall from power was imminent because of voters' deep disillusionment with the ruling coalition.

Addressing the opening of his party's annual congress, Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) leader Abdul Hadi Awang also blamed Malaysia's severe economic downturn on the National Front, or Barisan Nasional.

'The National Front government is always blaming the external factors' for the crisis,' Abdul Hadi said.

However, 'the internal factors that can be seen as anti-growth in economic terms are still rampant: money politics, corruption, misuse of power and resources and cronyism,' he said.
He said the National Front's defeat in elections due by 2012 was assured if the PAS strengthened its alliance with Parti Keadilan Rakyat, led by ex-deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim and the Chinese-dominated Democratic Action Party.

'Let us increase and embolden our relationships, at all levels, within the Pakatan Rakyat since this will increase our (chances of winning) the coming 13th national general election,' Abdul Hadi said.

He also slammed the government's 'immoral and unconstitutional' means to topple the opposition-led government in Perak state.
'It signals nothing else except the near downfall of the National Front headed by UMNO,' he said, referring to Prime Minister Najib Razak's United Malays National Organisation, which heads the ruling coalition.

The PAS general assembly will last three days, and delegates are expected to debate whether to return to the party's hardline religious roots or to put on a more moderate face to continue winning non-Muslim support.

Chinese and Indian voters have enthusiastically supported PAS candidates in seats where they stood for the Pakatan Rakyat, and thousands have joined PAS 'Supporters' Clubs' around the country.

The Pakatan Rakyat snatched a third of parliamentary seats in an unprecedented performance in the 2008 polls and reversed a decline that had seen PAS decimated in the 2004 polls.

Malaysia’s PAS emerges as leading opposition

Saturday, June 06, 2009 Web posted at: 6/6/2009

2:43:43Source ::: Reuters

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s Islamist party sought yesterday to project itself as a national party of all races and religions as it positioned itself as the top contender to oust the government that has ruled for 51 years.

Abdul Hadi Awang, president of the Pan Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), said non-Muslims could ultimately be allowed to join the party, a pledge analysts said signalled tolerance towards ethnic minorities, who make up 45 percent of this Southeast Asian country’s 27 million population.
The key moment of the annual meeting will be a battle for top party posts, pitting Abdul Hadi’s conservative wing that has in the past considered allying with the National Front government, against reformers who have said “no” to any deal.

“PAS is ready to offer itself to lead the change and bear the trust of national leadership in Malaysia’s heterogeneous society after the 13th general election, God-willing,” Abdul Hadi told a sea of white skull-capped delegates dressed in green at the PAS annual congress.
PAS is a member of a three-party opposition alliance led by Anwar Ibrahim that hopes to take power from the National Front coalition in elections due by 2013.

Although PAS is Malaysia’s second largest political party in terms of mass membership after the main government party, the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), it is the smallest of the three opposition parties in parliament, holding 24 of the alliance’s 83 seats.

Set up in 1951, PAS spent most of its life on the political fringes, happy to confine itself to a narrow Islamic voter base. But since moderating its austere religious image and joining the opposition bloc it has reached out to ethnic Chinese and Indian voters and winning ethnically mixed seats.

“To a certain extent, this was really PAS projecting itself as a national party,” said Bridget Welsh, a Malaysia specialist at Johns Hopkins University.

“It sees itself as an umbrella for non-Malays to come in and for Sabah and Sarawak to come in,” she said, referring to two states on Borneo island currently with the government coalition.
Faced with a united opposition and growing discontent over the National Front and UMNO’s failure to stem corruption, the government stumbled to its worst-ever results in national and state elections last year, triggering foreign investor flight at the same time as worries grew over the US credit crisis.

A rising budget deficit, which will see about 90bn Malaysian ringgit ($25.77bn) of bonds issued this year and lack of clarity over reforms planned by Prime Minister Najib Razak has hit financial markets here.

Malaysian five year bond yields stand wider than Thailand, which has a lower credit rating, while the stock market has underperformed a strong Asian rally, gaining 22 percent compared with the 34 percent gain in the benchmark MSCI Asia-Pacific index excluding Japan.

Abdul Hadi later toned down his stance when asked by reporters about his plan for PAS to become the opposition’s lead body, saying the alliance practised collective leadership.
“The political scenario can change ... What’s important is principle and concept of cooperation, not defending any individual,” he said.

Anwar, who is parliamentary opposition leader, has always been accepted as the most likely candidate to be Prime Minister should the Alliance wrest power from the Front.

Malaysian Islamic Opposition: No Truce with Gov't

By SEAN YOONG / AP WRITER
Thursday, June 4, 2009 ,

KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysia's Islamic opposition ruled out a rapprochement on Thursday with the main party in the governing coalition, silencing those who want to heal political divisions among the country's Malay Muslim majority. The divide among the Malays was partly responsible for the ruling United Malays National Organization party's poor showing in the 2008 general elections.
The party is the linchpin of the multiethnic National Front coalition and draws its support entirely from Malays who form 60 percent of the 27 million population. But many Malays abandoned UMNO—seen as corrupt and venal—at the polls and voted either for the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party, the country's biggest opposition group, or for two other non-Islamic opposition parties. Most ethnic Chinese and Indian minorities also voted for one of the three parties, which came together in an unusual alliance stitched together by opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.
The Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party, or PAS, is debating at its annual congress this week whether it should mend fences with UMNO in the interest of Malay and Islamic unity to counter the growing clout of the minorities in politics.PAS deputy president, Nasharuddin Mat Isa, who is widely believed to have tried to hold talks with UMNO, however, denied the party wants to join the National Front."I take this opportunity to stress that the party's top leaders never had any intention or plan" to enter the National Front, Nasharuddin said in a speech to the party's youth wing.
He described the Front as "increasingly weak" as it plunges "faster into the valley of destruction."PAS "is ready to take over the leadership of the country in the near future and bring an alternative leadership to all Malaysians, with Allah's permission," Nasharuddin said to loud cheers from delegates.Malaysia's next general elections are not due until 2013, but even government leaders have warned that the National Front—in power since 1957—risks losing power because of widespread public disenchantment.PAS will hold a ballot to choose senior office-bearers for the next two years when its main congress opens on Friday.
Nasharuddin is defending his post against two candidates who have vehemently opposed a tie-up with the National Front. The Islamic party has nearly 1 million members, making it the biggest component of Anwar's three-party alliance, which won more than one-third of the seats in Parliament last year.
The party is also debating moves at its congress this week to broaden its support among ethnic Chinese and Indians by giving a larger role to some 50,000 non-Muslims who are part of the party's so-called "supporters' club."Among those who have called for cooperation between PAS and UMNO is the ruling party's youth chief, Khairy Jamaluddin.A dialogue between both sides could be held "for the sake of the Malays and Islam," he wrote on his blog on Thursday."It is most unfortunate if a leader (of the Islamic party) completely dismisses any ties" between the two sides, he wrote.
