Support the cause for press freedom. This is an announcement from a string of civil society groups. I must say it is refreshing to see more new groups joining in the struggle for media freedom in Malaysia. What we need now is to achieve a critical mass of Malaysians demanding press freedom, whose voices cannot be ignored or suppressed any longer.
The organisers are hoping for at least 5,000 signatures. So far, they have received just over 200. I hope readers of this blog can help them achieve their target.

Concerned Malaysians are working hard to collect as many signatures as possible for the 2008 Memorandum on Media Freedom - sponsored by Benar for Free and Fair Media (Benar), Centre for Independent Journalism (CIJ), National Alliance of Bloggers (All-Blogs) and Writers Alliance for Media Independence (WAMI).
The Memorandum, together with the signatures collected until 30 August, 2008 shall be presented to the national leaders on August 31, 2008 and to state leaders on September 16, 2008 to demand for reforms in media laws. This project will be weaker without your support. We hope you will place this image link on your blog to help promote the cause.
There can be no free nation without free media. Let us come together to demand media freedom as the birthday present for our beloved nation.

SUSULAN KEBAKARAN AHAD LEPAS..YB HAMDAN SAMPAIKAN BANTUAN DARI PEJABAT DAERAH

PERMATANG PAUH 18 JUN-Susulan kebakaran yang dilaporkan Ahad lepas,hari ini YB Hamdan sekali lagi tampil memberi bantuan yang diterima dari Pejabat Darah Seberang Perai berhubung dengan bantuan segera.Bantuan di berikan kepada En Zaini Othman 47 tahun sebanyak RM500 manakala tuan punya rumah, iaitu ibunya mendapat sebanyak RM3000 kepada Aminah Bt Mat Isa 74.

Bantuan yang diterima ini dianggap sebagai bantuan dari pihak kerajaan Pakatan Rakyat dengan sokongan dari pejabat daerah.Baru-baru ini rumah En Zaini terbakar akibat litar pintas dan dengan itu pihak pejabat YB Hamdan memberi bantuan segera.Dengan bantuan ini diharapkan keluarga Encik zaini akan tabah meneruskan hidup.Turut hadir ialah Pengerusi JKKK kampung Permatang Tengah, Permatang Pauh.

SAPP TAK KELUAR TAPI TAK CAYA PAK LAH

Presiden SAPP, Datuk Yong Teck Lee berkata parti itu tidak akan keluar pada masa ini dari BN yang dipimpin oleh Abdullah, tetapi statusnya akan disemak pada hujung minggu ini.
Beliau mengkritik rekod BN di Sabah, dengan berkata negeri itu dikenakan undang-undang yang tidak adil dan cukai yang keterlaluan.

SAPP BUAT PENGUMUMAN JAM 2 PETANG DI KOTA KINABALU

Sabah Progressive Party (Sapp) is calling a press conference at 2pm today at its headquarters in Kota Kinabalu where it is expected to make an important announcement.
MCPXWhile speculations are rife that the party might decide to leave Barisan Nasional, sources close to the party have revealed that such a defection may not take place today.
“Today is just the first step. There might not be any defections yet,” said a source.

PILIHANRAYA KECIL DUN SANGLANG

Mahkamah putus DUN Sanglang dikosongkan

KANGAR 18 Jun - Mahkamah Tinggi di sini hari ini memutuskan kerusi Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Sanglang yang dimenangi oleh calon Barisan Nasional (BN) pada pilihan raya umum lalu dikosongkan apabila mahkamah menerima pemohonan petisyen yang dikemukakan bekas calon pilihan raya Pas bagi kerusi itu.
Hakim Datuk Zainal Adzam Abdul Ghani bagaimanapun menolak permohonan bekas calon Pas, Hashim Jasin supaya mengisytiharkan beliau sebagai pemenang kerusi DUN tersebut.
Keputusan itu bakal menyaksikan pilihan raya kecil untuk kawasan tersebut. - Utusan
