*Investigate I.J Convent Johor Bahru for the Motivational Camp.*

———————————————
Last week I.J Convent Johor Bahru conducted a motivational camp for Form 5 students sitting for the upcoming SPM examination, where special workshops were conducted and exam modules for for various subjects were handed out.
The school ought to have been complemented for their initiative.
Alas ! this program which was held in a hotel with an overnight stay was exclusively for Malay-Muslim students. It is said that the Malay students were made to swear that they will not relate this special session to their non - Malay friends. All this would not have been known had some of the students not put photographs from the session on Instagram.
Was there something more sinister? Was the motivational camp held to give leg up to the Malay students over the Non-Malay students. Much planning would have gone into the preparation of the motivational camp, the workshops and the exam modules.
Convent Johor Bahru is a school with students from all races. This school established in 1925 is an elite and high performance school. Its luminaries include among others the Raja Permaisuri Agung, Toh Puan Rahah, Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz and even Tun Hussein Onn to name a few.
Now that this covert motivational camp has been exposed, the school claims that the motivational camp was due to concerns that Malay students students not doing well in the SPM examination.
Is this not selective concern by the teachers? Why be overtly selectively concerned for students of one race over their other. Are the teachers, not concerned about whether the Chinese and Indians students doing well. Surely among the Chinese and Indians there are also weak students. Rightly, the school should and ought to have done a motivational camp, workshops and giving exam modules for weak students of all races.
The Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah Johor Bahru, should immediately investigate further, and sanction the principal for approving the covert motivational camp and the teachers who participated andconducted the workshops.
In a state that practices the Bangsa Johor concept and which Sultan Johor never fails to remind, students can do without racist and divisive teachers with their personal agenda.
With teachers like this, any wonder for the exodus of Non-Malay students to vernacular schools.
