The Traditional Dance Drama MEK MULUNG is a dying art and is exclusively found in Kedah.

Mek Mulung

MEK MULUNG is not just a performing arts, but also incorporates elements of spirit and ancestor worship.

The musical instruments played are the SEMBORONG, GONG, SERUNAI and CEREK.

Penang's first MEK MULUNG Performance by a Pak Saad Wang Tepus troop of 15 skilled performers from Kedah, will be at the November Market.

We will also be having a build up of Jazz to next weekends 5th Penang Island Jazz Festival, an early start to the World Aids Day celebrations with the Family Health Development Association and a Workshop on Floral Arrangements.

Celebrating World Aids Day 2008 – Remembering People Living with HIV/AIDS The Family Health Development Association (Formerly the Family Planning Association) will be having an exhibition, Red Ribbon Floor Games and will seek Pledges.

2 Build Up to the 5th Penang Island Jazz Festival Come and listen to some of Penang’s foremost jazz musicians performing pre Jazz festival.

3 Flower Arrangement Garden Style A demonstration will be held followed by 2 sessions of Flower Corsage Workshop at 12noon to 1.30pm and 2pm to 3.30pm. Participation is at RM12 per head with all materials provided

4 Special Stores at the Market We are proud to present 2 special stored : Adventist Voluntary Service will be selling soft toys and handicraft and The Penang Museum and State Art Gallery will be selling their books and post cards.
